Contextless Links – June 19 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve had access to my newsreader, which means that I’ve spent a fair bit of time trying to catch up on reading, I’ve still got 2000 unread posts to quickly scroll through.  This of course leaves me with a lot of links to add to the “contextless” link list for today…

Bible To Youth – BIG Dvd Project

Craig recently showed me a copy of the teaser dvd of this project produced by TwentyFour supported by the Bible Society, it’s a nicely produced daily reading guide for young people to go through the first 17 chapters of Genesis. The dvd shows young people reading the verses to an animated background, during which a series of questions follow the reading to assist with the reflecting on the readings. The dvd will be released in July and is being subsidised by the Bible Society, it’s well worth the look. Check out the teaser.

J.K Rowling puts pen to paper to write a new Harry Potter story

It seems as if J.K Rowling has actually written a new Harry Potter story specifically for use in the new theme park “The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter” in Orlando, Florida. With the cast and crew of the movie acting out the new story people may be forgiven for thinking that more Harry Potter stories might still be in the works (even though J.K has said “no more”).

Batman as the ultimate capitalist superhero

Pete Rollins waxing lyrical about Batman/Bruce Wayne and how his day life and night life (his alternate identities) match up with each other, amongst many things he ponders whether the next film will have Bruce Wayne dismantling his empire and setting up free health care rather than bashing up pimps overnight… The conversation in the comments section is also well worth the read. (I wonder where the latest Iron Man movie would fit in this conversation…)

Moo release recycled moo cards

Lots of friends of mine have eyed off my Moo/Flickr business cards and, as I was looking at the details of Moo so I could forward information to people I found out that they’re releasing a new eco-friendly range of cards late June 2008.  I think I’ll have to upload a few new images and order me a box of the new range so I can show them off… at only $22 they’re a bargain…

Urban Seed Melbourne running an exposure/intensive in September

This looks like a great opportunity for people interested in exploring their lifestyle, mission and what it might mean to love your neighbour.  I’ll post more about this event later on, but it definitely looks like something that’d be worth checking out.
