This is the third picture book written by Aaron that introduces us to another couple of remarkable young people through the story of Stanley Paste. Stanley Paste is a really tiny young boy, really really tiny.
Stanley’s so small that he’s picked on at school, he’s never picked for sporting teams, has very few friends and is very lonely. He’s so sick of being small that he yells out “I Hate Being Small!” in lament and exhaustion.
That is until one day a new kid arrives at school, her name is Eleanor Cabbage and she is REALLY tall. Eleanor is picked on by the girls for being so tall, and Stanley sees her crying in the school yard, she hates being tall as much as he hates being so small. The two outsiders find in each other the best of friends, together they escape the bullying and find a world where their problems don’t seem so big.
As in all of Aaron’s books, we know these kids, they’re real and that’s what makes the characters so easy to embrace.
