Well here’s a little gem. Doug Gay, founder of the Late Late Service in Glasgow, along with others, has just released a book and CDROM “Alternative Worship” packed with worship resources and some thoughts about the whole alt.worship enterprise.
The worship resources are seasonal, and are full of the “Iona” kind of poetic liturgy (with an edge) that we’ve become used to, along with plenty of examples of multi-sensory use of symbols, etc. Some prayers, some meditations, some dramas, some stations and alternative ‘rituals’.
The CDROM has a Flash interface and is full of video clips (24 clips – 320×240 pixels), original music( 17 tracks as mp3s), still images (about 230 – screen resolution or, larger), liturgies and prayers from the book. The clips lean more towards the thematic and abstract, very ‘arty’. The music comes from a range of sources, very much in the UK alt-worship genre. i.e. mix of celtic-type tunes and electronic backing – but a variety nevertheless – lyrics a strong point. Most of the still images look great to me, including original artwork and photos.
A great resource.
